CLASSIC AND SPORTS SUNDAY at Mar-A-Lago, Palm Beach, FL, January 26, 2025
Classic & Sports Sunday is the finale of the Cavallino Classic weekend, and always features some of the finest limited-production cars of the Pre-War period. The trophy for Best of Show went to undeniably one of the most significant cars from the 1930’s, the 1937 Alfa Romeo 8C2900B Touring Berlinetta. With its Gran Prix straight 8 twin-supercharged engine and breathtaking lines, it was the Supercar of its era. Equally impressive was the 1937 Bugatti Type 57C Atalante with its striking red and black color scheme. No pre-war class would be complete without a Duesenburg, and this one was represented by a 1930 Murphy-bodied Model J four door convertible Phaeton. The white Bentley being displayed was in fact an .85 scale hand-made fully road legal interpretation of the iconic 1929 Bentley Blower, completely electric power and offered in limited numbers by Hedley Studios in Great Britain. A “one-off” 1954 Ferrari 375MM coupe rounded out the field as the winner of the Peoples Choice. It is the last Ferrari bodied by Ghia, and was shown at the 1955 Turin Auto Show.
