The original Mille Miglia road races took place in Italy between 1927 and 1957. A thousand miles of flat-out driving brought out the best cars and drivers. In order to commemorate the original event an enthusiastic group of amateurs organized an annual reenactment called the Mille Miglia Storica. Many more entries were submitted than were accepted, and the event soon became one of the most prestigious events on the motorsports calendar.

The third 1000 Miglia Warm Up USA took place once again in beautiful fall weather in Northern Virginia’s hunt country. Middleburg was chosen to be the venue for the event as it is home to the five star Salamander Resort, as well as some of the most scenic roads in the mid-Atlantic. Entrants that finish the four days of rally training and achieve the lowest number of point deductions are invited to take place in the Mille Miglia reenactment event in Italy in June, 2024. A 1931 Alfa Romeo 6C-1750 took top honors in this year’s US qualifying event. It was closely followed in second place by a 1957 Lancia Aurelia B20S, which also won the coveted Middleburg Cup.
